Case of the Month
Over the years we have treated all sort of animals for all sorts of
illnesses and injuries. We have kept records of these cases,
and will add one per month for you to discover what it is we do here
at Pet Street Station Animal Hospital. As the months pass, we will provide
a link on this page to the archives of previous cases.

- July, 2004: This Spring a Great Horned
Owl was brought in by a client from the Town of McDonough, who found him in
a drainage ditch weak and unable to fly. On our physical exam we found him
to be very cold and thin and unable to use his right foot.

was presented to Pet Street Station Animal Hospital with a history of vomiting
all her food up and acting a little weak.

- October, 2004: A 4 month old neutered
male feline was presented to Pet Street Station Animal Hospital with the chief
complaint that “G” was not eating or drinking for the last 4 days.

- November, 2004: "Glen", an 11-month old
Border Collie, presented to us by a rescue organization to be evaluated
for an angular limb deformity of his back leg.

- December, 2004: "Marley", a 50 pound 3 year old
neutered male boxer dog presented as an after hours emergency having
just been
struck by a car 20 minutes earlier.

- January, 2005: "Gus", an 11 year
old neutered male German Shepherd was presented to the clinic with
the vague signs of lethargy, one vomiting episode, and lack of appetite
for several days.

- March, 2005: "Goldie" is a female golden retriever canine weighing
60 pounds who presented to the clinic on 12/30/04 with the chief complaint
of frequent urinations of an off colored urine.

- April, 2005: "Shadow", an 11 ½-year-old
male German Shepherd, came to see us for lameness on his hind legs
and had been acting very lethargic lately..

- July, 2005: A spay procedure or Ovariohysterectomy
is an important and common procedure in many species of animals but
especially in dogs and cats.

- August, 2005: Summer is prime time
for ectoparasite infestations like fleas and ticks. Another infestation seen
more infrequently but equally, if not more, disturbing to pet and owner is
fly larvae or maggots.

- October, 2005: A 4-year-old kitty named McKenzie
presented to Pet Street Station Animal Hospital in July with a history
of having
urinary "accidents" inside the house but outside the litter
box for the previous several weeks. McKenzie had been eating and
drinking and seemed fine otherwise.

- February, 2006: One of the most dangerous
winter season health
hazards for pets is ethylene glycol toxicity or
antifreeze poisoning.

- April, 2006: Jake is a 7-year-old neutered
male domestic shorthaired feline who presented after hours with the
chief complaint of lethargy for 2 days duration, not eating, running
to the litter box frequently, straining, and crying.

- July, 2006: Nick is a 4-year old neutered male Border Collie. He was given up by his owner to a shelter in the New York City area. He was transferred to Glen Highland Farm, a breed specific Border Collie rescue located in Morris, NY.

- February 2007 : Sam presented to Pet Street Station Animal Hospital with a history of straining to urinate and/or defecate for 2-3 days. He seemed to be doing fine otherwise except draining a little urine while walking on the day of presentation. He was eating and drinking normally. Sam is a 12-year-old neutered male Doberman Labrador cross.
